Broome Sobering Up Centre is run by Milliya Rumurra Aboriginal Corporation at 69 Wattle Drive, Roebuck. Listed by the WA Mental Health Commission as an interim 12-bed facility, it gives intoxicated people a supervised place to sober up, with showers, laundry and meals, diverting them from police lock-ups and the emergency department. Attendance is voluntary; people self-refer or are brought by patrols, agencies or police. It opens 3.30pm to 7.30am. A 26-bed replacement is proposed.
