THE SERVICE
The cohealth Sobering Centre is a 24-hour staffed facility at Collingwood providing a supervised place for people who are intoxicated to stay while they recover from the immediate effects of intoxication. It is the metropolitan Melbourne sobering centre under Victoria's public intoxication response, listed by the Department of Health with cohealth as lead provider. Published eligibility is for anyone in metropolitan Melbourne at heightened risk due to intoxication who has no serious physical or mental health issue and poses no safety risk to themselves or others. People are brought to the centre by cohealth's public intoxication response team rather than presenting directly. Capacity, age and gender criteria are not published.
