Namatjira Haven at Alstonville in northern NSW runs the Gulgihwen residential program for Aboriginal men aged 18 and over with alcohol and other drug dependence, with very limited places for non-Aboriginal men. There is no set length of stay; a minimum of eight weeks is recommended and the average is around twelve. The culturally focused program includes a weekly fire circle, a visiting GP and Sunday family visits.
