A residential alcohol and other drug unit at 7-9 Stagpole Street, West End, Townsville, delivered by Pinangba, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led arm of UnitingCare, in partnership with BlueCare. It serves adults whose lives have been affected by substance use, predominantly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from across Queensland and interstate, and provides detoxification and withdrawal, residential rehabilitation, individual case management, counselling, psycho-education, vocational programs and after care. Self-referral is encouraged and transport is provided to people in the program.

It runs a 10-bed withdrawal management unit for mild to moderate withdrawal, where participants generally stay seven days in private rooms, and a 52-bed residential rehabilitation program of three months in shared accommodation.
Private and shared roomsA 73-bed voluntary private psychiatric hospital in Townsville's CBD, operated by Aurora Healthcare. It admits adults on GP or specialist referral to one of ten psychiatrists with admitting rights, and runs inpatient, day-patient and outpatient care.
A purpose-built 10-bed youth residential rehabilitation centre at Edmonton, south of Cairns, which opened in October 2025. It takes young people aged 13 to 18, with priority for 16 and 17 year olds, from the Cairns and Hinterland and Torres and Cape regions. Stays run from six weeks to six months and are voluntary.
Private and shared roomsGindaja is an Aboriginal community controlled alcohol and other drug service at Yarrabah, about 60km by road from Cairns. Its 17-bed Residential Recovery Centre on Back Beach Road runs a 12-week program for voluntary adults aged 18 and over who have already completed withdrawal.
