About Winja Ulupna Women's Recovery Centre
Winja Ulupna, Yorta Yorta for "Women's Haven", is a 24-hour residential alcohol and drug recovery centre for Koori women over 18, run by Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Corporation. It takes up to eight women at a time, voluntarily or on court referral, and encourages a minimum stay of three months. Days are structured around culturally relevant self-help and self-development activities: counselling, relapse prevention, parenting and women's health, anger management, art and computer skills. It cannot accommodate children.
