About CAAAPU (Central Australian Aboriginal Alcohol Programmes Unit)
CAAAPU is an Aboriginal community controlled residential rehabilitation service at 290 Ragonesi Road, Alice Springs, operating since 1991. It runs separate men's (20 beds) and women's (9 beds) eight-week residential programs for Aboriginal people affected by alcohol and other drug use. Treatment combines one-on-one counselling and group therapy with cultural healing alongside Elders, bush trips, health and fitness activities, and life skills work in literacy, budgeting and employment readiness. Family visits are weekly.
