The Inpatient Drug and Alcohol Service at Royal North Shore Hospital is an 11-bed unit run by Northern Sydney Local Health District in St Leonards. It provides inpatient withdrawal management for up to 28 days and also delivers the state's Involuntary Drug and Alcohol Treatment program, which a magistrate may extend to 56 days for people with substance-related brain injury. Care includes comprehensive medical and psychiatric assessment, a group and case management program, and aftercare planning.
