About Hospital Alcohol and Drug Service (HADS), Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital
A state-wide inpatient unit at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital providing withdrawal or stabilisation for people dependent on alcohol or other drugs. Admission follows an assessment, taken at the emergency department between 8am and 7pm or by referral form, GP or community alcohol and drug service. Treatment combines a medication regime with supportive counselling and a group programme, and discharge planning links people to community services or residential rehabilitation. Visitors are not permitted. Treatment is free.
