THE SERVICE
Wellington House is a 12-bed community residential unit operated by Turning Point at Box Hill, providing residential withdrawal and stabilisation for people withdrawing from alcohol and other drugs. Turning Point states stays are up to four weeks and that the service is free. The program includes group psychotherapy, in-house mutual aid sessions and life skills content including financial advice. A GP referral is required along with a face-to-face or telephone intake assessment; admissions are handled by the unit directly and central intake runs through ECADS. Turning Point describes the unit as a community residential unit on one page and refers to medically managed inpatient withdrawal at the same address on another, so the level of medical cover is recorded as not published.
