About Gorman Unit
The Gorman Unit is a 13-bed medically supervised inpatient withdrawal unit run by St Vincent's Hospital Sydney at Darlinghurst. It provides five to seven days of voluntary withdrawal management, with doctors prescribing and nurses administering medication, alongside individual and group education, therapeutic intervention, psychosocial support and post-discharge planning. Admission is arranged through the hospital's centralised alcohol and drug intake line or by referral from a GP or health service. Food, toiletries and laundry are provided.
