THE SERVICE
A 30-bed licensed private psychiatric hospital on Sheridan Street in Cairns, operated by Ramsay Health Care and formerly trading as The Cairns Clinic. It admits adults under the care of a credentialed visiting psychiatrist for inpatient treatment of depression, anxiety, personality disorders and substance misuse, and runs day programs including a Relapse Prevention Drug and Alcohol group. Patients have private ensuite rooms. Admission requires private health cover, DVA, WorkCover or self-funding.

A purpose-built 10-bed youth residential rehabilitation centre at Edmonton, south of Cairns, which opened in October 2025. It takes young people aged 13 to 18, with priority for 16 and 17 year olds, from the Cairns and Hinterland and Torres and Cape regions. Stays run from six weeks to six months and are voluntary.
Private and shared roomsGindaja is an Aboriginal community controlled alcohol and other drug service at Yarrabah, about 60km by road from Cairns. Its 17-bed Residential Recovery Centre on Back Beach Road runs a 12-week program for voluntary adults aged 18 and over who have already completed withdrawal.
Mission Australia's alcohol and other drug service in Queensland, a ten-bed therapeutic residential rehabilitation centre on the Kennedy Highway at Mareeba, inland from Cairns. It takes adults aged 18 and over from Cairns, the Tablelands and Far North Queensland.
Shanty Creek is a live-in therapeutic community near Mareeba in Far North Queensland run by Lives Lived Well, taking up to 30 residents aged 18 and over. It prioritises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and also accepts others.
