About Sobering Up Shelter
A voluntary, confidential overnight service for people aged 18 and over who are intoxicated by alcohol or other drugs. Clients stay a single night and are monitored by alcohol, tobacco and other drug workers, who also provide one-on-one education about substance effects and harm reduction, then refer on to detox, rehabilitation, counselling, mental health or accommodation services. Referrals come from individuals, family, ACT Policing and ACT Ambulance. Funded by the ACT Government.
