Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services is the public alcohol and other drug arm of Hunter New England Local Health District. It runs counselling, an opioid treatment program with pharmacotherapy clinics at Newcastle West and Cessnock, cannabis and stimulant clinics at Watt Street Newcastle, a needle and syringe program, MERIT court diversion, a youth team for ages 12 to 18, hospital consultation liaison, and a twelve bed inpatient withdrawal unit at Belmont Hospital. Access is through central intake on 1300 660 059.
